Definitive Audio Holds High-End Event

Definitive Audio convinces key high-end audio manufacturers to unveil new products at 6th annual Music Matters reception.

High-performance audio is certainly not dead in the Pacific Northwest. CE Pro 100 company Definitive Audio in Bellevue, Wash., has proven it for the sixth year in a row by successfully hosting its annual free "Music Matters" showroom event.

Music Matters 6 Crowd

But the high-performance audio catered event itself for an enthusiastic crowd of 500 was not the real story. Definitive went to great lengths to bring in a virtual who's who of audio manufacturers and their key engineers to personally conduct demos and even unveil never-before-seen products for attendees.

The entire evening is devoted solely to the reproduction of music. During the event, attendees have the opportunity to see and hear high-performance 2-channel systems, presented by the manufacturers, in six calibrated sound rooms.

"I can't think of an event title that better summarizes Wilson's core culture than Definitive Audio's Music Matters," comments John Giolas, director of sales and marketing at Wilson Audio. "It is Definitive Audio's skill and expertise - and passion for music - that turns a mere collection of great equipment into a synergistic system that transcends the parts and becomes a conduit to the musical experience. It is for these reasons that Wilson Audio has supported this event from its inception. We can think of no better way to celebrate our love of music than spending an evening with our friends in Seattle - listening."

Highlights included Wilson's award-winning Sasha; Meridian's new DSP 3200 digital active bookshelf speaker system and Media Core 200 digital music system; and Ayre's VXR stereo amplifier.

Audio Research debuted its Reference anniversary pre-amp. Gilad Tiefenbrun, managing director at Linn, traveled from Scotland to introduce the updated Akurate DS system. Likewise, Bowers and Wilkins' senior development engineer Dr. John Dibb was in attendance from Sussex, U.K.

Other products that made their debut at the event included Classé's new CP-800 digital preamplifier; HRS' MXR Reference stand, and GoldenEar'sTriton Two loudspeakers.

"The ability to experience high fidelity music with the best manufacturers in the world is a very unique opportunity for attendees" comments Mark Ormiston, president of Definitive Audio. "I'm pleased to have these manufacturers commit to the travel and expenses associated with putting on an event of this caliber at a time when the economy still isn't perfect. I know our customers recognize that too."
