Component selection

We carry more world-class brands of electronic components than any other dealer in the Northwest. From these manufacturers, we have selected what we consider to be the best choices from receivers, amplifiers and digital source components.

We constantly strive to have not only the latest in technology, but also the understanding of how components sound, how they interact and how they make music. If this is your first purchase, or an addition to your existing system, we are here to help.

SOURCE COMPONENTS

These components start the signal flow, taking the information from your source material and delivering it to the system. Examples of source components include: AM/FM tuner, iPod™ or Portable Media Player, a CD player, or a Turntable.

THE PREAMP

The Preamplifier is an often-overlooked aspect of a system and, in some cases, may not be necessary depending on the source component. At Definitive, we carry preamplifiers that can be responsible for many of the duties of a source component, allowing further flexibility with digital sources.

THE AMPLIFIER

This component, at a basic level, adds power to the signal from the preamplifier in order to be used by the loudspeakers. A number of variables can affect your selection including: power requirements, speaker designs, listening levels and room size.
