Description

Wattson Audio shares its engineering staff, production floor, and design philosophy with CH Precision in Prevegenges, Switzerland. That relationship is not a co-branding arrangement. It shows in the actual circuit decisions. The Madison Streamer is built the way CH Precision builds -- minimum necessary parts, maximum attention to the things that actually affect sound.

At the core: dual Wolfson WM8742 DAC chips in a dual mono configuration, clocked by separate ultra-low-jitter crystal oscillators for the 44.1kHz and 48kHz families. Digital filtering uses Wattson's proprietary Spline algorithm -- a cubic spline, time-optimized approach that prioritizes transient coherence over conventional measured flatness. Volume control uses a 64-bit LEEDH-derived algorithm accurate to plus or minus 0.1 dB across its entire range. PCM to 32-bit/384kHz. DSD to 256x. The streaming engine handles Roon Ready, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay, UPnP/DLNA, and Audirvana.

Outputs include balanced XLR at 4.0V RMS, single-ended RCA at 2.0V RMS, and a 6.35mm headphone jack with 150mW into 32 ohms. The chassis is CNC machined from solid aluminum. TAS Editor's Choice 2025. Hi-Fi+ 2026 Digital Streamer Award. Power supply included -- the Madison Power S is an optional upgrade that lowers the noise floor further and is highly recommended.
