SUPATRAC Nighthawk

The SUPATRAC Blackbird proved the concept: a Sideways Uni-Pivot bearing that directly opposes stylus drag — eliminating scrubbing, timing errors, and the mechanical coloration that haunts even the finest conventional tonearms. Reviewers called it the biggest leap in tonearm design in fifty years. The Nighthawk is what happens when SUPATRAC removes the design constraints that made the Blackbird affordable to produce and universally compatible.

The Nighthawk uses a 1" diameter arm pillar — double the Blackbird's ½" — and an 8mm pivot bolt instead of 5mm, for dramatically increased rigidity at the point that matters most. The more complex composite assembly extends arm length by 17mm and increases vertical Torque-Reaction Assisted Contact (TRAC) — meaning the Nighthawk presses the stylus deeper into the groove under demanding dynamics with even greater authority than the Blackbird. The result is an arm that can be paired with the most demanding high-compliance and low-compliance cartridges on the planet and still track at the absolute limit of what's pressed into the groove.

Michael Fremer called listening to the Nighthawk "a mind-boggling experience." Ken Micallef of Stereophile described the Helix One / Nighthawk room at Munich High End as "a pure thrill ride of physicality, power, and purity." Robert Harley of The Absolute Sound called it "stunning in its realistic portrayal of instrumental timbre, dynamics, and imaging."
