HRS damping plates apply constrained layer damping directly to the top panel of a component chassis — the same engineering principle that HRS uses in their full isolation bases, scaled to a product that works with the equipment you already have. The principle is straightforward: the chassis panel of most audio equipment resonates when energized by the transformers and mechanical components inside. That resonance reaches the signal path.
The HLX-090 plates bond to the chassis surface and convert that mechanical energy into heat through constrained layer damping — the same approach used in aerospace applications where panel resonance has to be controlled without adding significant mass. The result is a lower noise floor from components that were already performing well.
