MOON 461 · Power Amplifier

The 461 exists because some loudspeakers demand more than an integrated amplifier can give them. Not more features. More current, more headroom, more control at the frequency extremes where demanding speakers test the limits of what drives them. The Moon 461 is built to answer that demand.

MDCA — Moon's Distortion-Cancelling Amplifier architecture — is the same proprietary technology found in the flagship North Collection, brought into the Compass Collection without compromise. Paired with two dedicated MHP power supply modules, one per channel, the 461 operates as a true dual-mono design: separate power rails, separate current delivery, dramatically reduced crosstalk. The dual-mono implementation is the reason the 461 measures 114dB signal-to-noise and –114dB crosstalk.

Output capability is substantial: 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 300 into 4, and 450 watts in bridged mono into 8 ohms. A rear-panel mode switch gives the listener three configurations — Stereo, Bridged Mono, and Bi-Amping Mono — making the 461 adaptable to a wide range of system designs and speaker requirements. The design uses no global feedback, Moon transistors throughout, and a zero-compromise signal path built for transparency and long-term stability.
