Description

The Momentum C2Z begins where the Momentum C2 left off — and then asks a different question. Not how to make a better preamplifier in isolation, but how to make a preamplifier that works more completely with a specific amplifier. The answer is the C2Z: a revision of the C2 platform centered on a new FET-based output stage designed from the ground up to interface with the Momentum Z Monoblock's Z circuitry.

The Momentum Z amplifier's input stage operates at a lower impedance than typical FET designs — which means it draws more current from the preamplifier. The C2Z is built to deliver it. The FET output stage increases current capability and reduces output impedance to 0.01 ohms, creating a more direct and controlled electrical connection between the two components. Distortion drops to less than 0.00066% at full output — a more than threefold improvement over the C2. The result is a more stable handoff: the preamplifier provides current with greater precision, the amplifier receives and responds to it without constraint.

What this translates to in practice is better performance where it is hardest to achieve — transient response, dynamic contrast, and low-frequency control at moderate listening levels. Bass texture and definition improve not because more power is applied, but because the signal is more precisely managed from the moment it leaves the preamplifier.

The C2Z is a two-chassis design. The main preamplifier unit houses the signal circuitry. A separate power supply with dedicated custom toroidal transformers — one each for the analog and digital sections — isolates sensitive circuits from power line noise. A precision-machined bi-directional remote with an integrated LCD mirrors the front panel. An optional Digital Streaming Module adds coaxial, optical, USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connectivity with Roon Ready certification and support for Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify. The C2Z does not replace the Momentum C2 — it is its own answer to a specific and demanding application.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is the warranty on Dan D'Agostino Amplifiers?

D’Agostino LLC warrants their amplifiers against manufacturing defects and defects in materials for five years from the date of retail purchase or six years from the original date of manufacture from an authorized Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems dealer, subject to certain conditions.

Do you offer service on Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers?

We do! In many cases we can service a still under warranty amplifier in the home, however in rare cases we might need to bring it in for more extensive maintenance.

Do you accept trade-ins toward purchase?

Absolutely. We have an aggressive trade in program aimed at getting our clients to the next level. Ask one or our experts about it or submit your potential trade in gear here.
