Description

Everything in the Varèse system runs through the Core, and that is by design. dCS spent years determining the ideal architecture for a flagship music system and concluded that centralising processing in a single, purpose-built unit would yield the most coherent and musically compelling result. The Core accepts digital audio from virtually every source: network streams via Ethernet, USB mass storage devices, USB audio from a computer, and three AES/EBU inputs that accept Dual AES pairs for the most demanding professional-grade sources. Every incoming signal is processed with the full weight of dCS precision before being passed to the Mono DACs. The connection between them is ACTUS -- a bespoke interface developed specifically for Varèse that carries audio, control, and timing signals on a single cable. This eliminates not only the physical complexity of a multi-box digital system, but the sonic compromises that come with multiple cable types, multiple clock domains, and multiple conversion stages. Format support is comprehensive: PCM from 44.1 to 384kS/s at up to 24 bits, DSD in all four rates from DSD/64 through DSD/512, native DSD and DoP, FLAC, WAV, and AIFF. Add the optional I/O Module and the Core gains S/PDIF and Word Clock outputs for integration with external digital processors or legacy equipment. The Core does not ask you to simplify your system. It asks you to trust that the complexity has already been solved, and to sit down and listen.

What is the warranty on dCS products?

dCS offers a 3-year limited warranty on their products, covering defects in materials and workmanship when purchased from an authorized dealer. If registered within 6 months of the original ship date, the warranty starts from the purchase date. For registrations after 6 months, the warranty begins from the ship date unless supported by the original sales invoice. In any case, the warranty starts no later than 6 months after the ship date.

Do you offer service on dCS products?

We do! In many cases we can service a still under warranty system in the home, however in rare cases we might need to bring it in for more extensive maintenance.
