The Varèse system is complete without the I/O Module. But for listeners who want to integrate the Core into a wider digital chain -- feeding an external processor, locking an external device to the Varèse clock, or routing audio to additional equipment -- the I/O Module adds exactly the connections required. It installs directly into the Varèse Core and provides an S/PDIF output on RCA for 24-bit PCM up to 192kS/s and DSD/64 in DoP format, plus a Word Clock output on BNC for synchronising external digital components to the Varèse timing reference. No external power supply, no additional cables between boxes -- it becomes part of the Core.

Description

Most Varèse owners will not need the I/O Module. The system is designed to be complete as configured, and the ACTUS-based architecture that connects Core to Mono DACs to Master Clock handles all internal signal distribution without additional outputs. The I/O Module exists for a specific category of listener: those who are integrating the Varèse Core into a system that already includes other high-quality digital components, or who want to use the Varèse Master Clock as a reference for external equipment. The S/PDIF output on RCA accepts 24-bit PCM at sample rates from 44.1 to 192kS/s and outputs DSD/64 in DoP format, making it compatible with a wide range of external DACs, recorders, and digital processors. The Word Clock output on BNC provides a TTL-compatible signal at either 44.1kHz or 48kHz, automatically selected based on the input sample rate, and allows any external device with a Word Clock input to synchronise to the Varèse timing reference. The module installs directly into the Varèse Core chassis -- no external housing, no additional power cable, no additional shelf space on the rack. Once installed, both outputs are available immediately without configuration. For the listener building a system around the Varèse Core but connecting it to external components, this is the module that makes the integration complete.

What is the warranty on dCS products?

dCS offers a 3-year limited warranty on their products, covering defects in materials and workmanship when purchased from an authorized dealer. If registered within 6 months of the original ship date, the warranty starts from the purchase date. For registrations after 6 months, the warranty begins from the ship date unless supported by the original sales invoice. In any case, the warranty starts no later than 6 months after the ship date.

Do you offer service on dCS products?

We do! In many cases we can service a still under warranty system in the home, however in rare cases we might need to bring it in for more extensive maintenance.
