dCS Varèse Master Clock

Every digital audio system runs on a clock. The clock determines when samples are converted, and any deviation from perfect timing -- however small -- introduces a form of distortion called jitter. Jitter does not announce itself. It does not create an obvious noise or artifact. What it does is subtract: a slight softening of transients, a narrowing of the stereo image, a reduction in the sense that you are listening to a live performance rather than a recording.
