Innuos NazaréNET

Most systems overlook the network. The assumption is that data is data — that what arrives at the streamer is what left the router, and that the switch in between is neutral. It isn't. Network switches introduce noise through their power supplies, clock jitter through their timing circuits, and interference through their internal ground planes. The NazaréNET was built specifically to address all of it.

The power supply draws from the NAZARE music server's design: custom-wound toroidal transformers, bespoke Lundahl inductors, and Innuos' GaN-ARC8 modules — developed with Dr. Sean Jacobs — providing gallium nitride active rectification with 376,000 µF of energy storage. Four DC4 regulation modules, each with precision foil resistors, deliver power to each critical section independently. The circuits that need quiet power receive quiet power. Nothing crosses.

The WaveNET board is purpose-built for audio — not adapted from commercial networking hardware. It provides four isolated power rails: one for the OCXO clock, one for the PHY transceivers, and two for the Ethernet controller. The OCXO clock itself operates on a fully isolated supply, providing the stable, low-jitter timing that digital audio genuinely depends on. Once the switch is configured, the onboard microprocessor shuts down via firmware — removing a source of noise during playback entirely.

A single-mode fibre SFP port (Finisar module, 1310nm, up to 10km) supplements the four Gigabit Ethernet ports, enabling galvanic isolation at the network boundary. The asymmetric 10mm CNC-machined aluminum chassis is tuned to minimize standing waves and resonance, with SmartStack vibration control on all key components and IsoAcoustics isolation feet. At 28 kilograms, it is built to the same physical standard as the signal standard it pursues.
