Description

Some names in audio carry weight that doesn't need explaining. K2 is one of them. The original Project K2 debuted in 1989 and established a standard for dynamic authority, tonal precision, and emotional immediacy that shaped every loudspeaker that came after it. The Summit K2 is its direct successor — only the fifth loudspeaker in JBL's history to carry the Project designation, which JBL has reserved, across eight decades, for moments when a genuine step forward in performance has been earned.

At the center of the Summit K2 is JBL's most accomplished horn-loading system to date. Three D2815 1.5-inch dual-diaphragm, dual-motor compression drivers feed through a patent-pending 3-into-1 expansion manifold into a large-format Sonoglass HDI horn — a geometry that maintains the K2's signature directivity and immediacy while extending resolution into territory the previous generation couldn't reach. A 10-inch Differential Drive mid-bass driver and a 15-inch Differential Drive woofer — each using JBL's triple-layer HC4 cone — anchor the bottom, delivering the kind of bass that comes from decades of cinema and professional audio work translated into a room made for music.

The MultiCap crossover replaces traditional large capacitors with multiple smaller ones arranged in parallel, reducing electrostatic resistance and energy loss through the network. It supports single-wire, bi-wire, bi-amp, or tri-amp configurations depending on how far you want to take it. Internal wiring is Ohno-Continuous-Cast long-crystal oxygen-free silver-plated copper. Binding posts are rhodium-plated and wrapped in carbon fiber. Custom JBL | IsoAcoustics isolation feet are standard.

The cabinet is internally offset, multi-braced, pressed curved-wall construction — designed to cancel the standing waves that conventional rectangular enclosures can't avoid. It is available in high-gloss black with Platinum accents or Macassar Ebony veneer with Gold detailing.
