The New D5 Series

Where professionals go to tell the truth.
In 2000, Bowers & Wilkins and Abbey Road Studios began a partnership that has shaped how records sound to this day. The engineers who mastered Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Adele, and thousands more chose 800 Series speakers as their reference standard.
They didn't choose them because they sound impressive. They chose them because they are accurate. That same accuracy is available to you — at the Definitive Audio Experience Center.
The Technology
Built for one reason: the music.
Every technology in the 800 Series exists to remove one more thing standing between the recording and your ears. Nothing more, nothing less.

Diamond Dome Tweeter
Actual diamond — the hardest natural material on earth — machined into a perfect dome. Diamond's rigidity means it vibrates exactly as intended, with zero breakup, all the way to 80kHz. The result is high-frequency detail of a precision that no other material can match. You hear the shimmer of a cymbal the way the microphone captured it.

Continuum FST Cone
B&W spent years developing a midrange cone material that would reproduce voices and instruments with complete neutrality — no coloration, no softening. Continuum is a proprietary woven material that achieves exactly this. The midrange is where music lives. Continuum makes sure nothing is lost there.

Aerofoil Profile Bass
The bass drivers in the 800 Series use an Aerofoil profile — a cross-section that varies in stiffness from center to edge, exactly like an aircraft wing. The result is bass that is tight, extended, and tonally accurate — never one-note or flabby. You hear the full weight and shape of a bass guitar, not a approximation of it.

Turbine Head Enclosure
The midrange driver in the flagship 800 Series models sits in a separate Turbine Head enclosure — completely isolated from the main cabinet. This eliminates resonance transfer between drivers, so the midrange can reproduce music without any interference from the bass below it.

Matrix Bracing
The enclosure of an 800 Series speaker is internally braced with a three-dimensional lattice structure — the Matrix. This eliminates cabinet resonance at a structural level. The cabinet doesn't vibrate. It doesn't add its own sound to the music. It simply stays out of the way.

Solid Body Tweeter Mount
The tweeter housing is mechanically decoupled from the main cabinet, mounted on a solid machined support. Vibration from the bass and midrange drivers cannot reach the tweeter. High frequencies are reproduced in complete isolation — which is why the diamond dome can do its job without interference.
We're not here to move product. We're here to move people.
The 800 Series is not something you buy after reading a spec sheet. It is something you hear — once — and understand. Our Experience Center is built around exactly that moment.
Once it arrives you will be the first to know.... Stay tuned.
